Distribution

Philocaenus_map

Restricted to the Afrotropical region: Botswana, Cameroon, Comoros, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Reunion, Senegal, Seychelles, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Biology

Non-pollinators, entering the fig and galling ovules in fig species of Section Galoglychia, Subsections Caulocarpae, Chlamydodorae, Crassicostae, Galoglychia, Platyphyllae.
