Madagascar. Largely restricted to the south west of the country, however, one sample has been found near Toamasina.
Pollinator: unknown
Dry forests and xerophytic bush at low altitude.
This recently described species has been confused previously with F. marmorata and is illustrated under this name in Flora Madagascar (1952).
