Madagascar and Mascarene Islands. A common species widely distributed in Madagascar especially in the east and the north.

Non-pollinators: Philocaenus bouceki (Wiebes); Philotrypesis cnephaea Wiebes; Sycoscapter cornutus Wiebes; Sycoryctes remus (Wiebes); Camarothorax brevimucro Boucek; C. hemimucro Wiebes.
